Students and Graduates

In 2005 Anansi enrolled six students in senior high school. Since then we have grown to fund the high school educations of over 800 students.

A high school degree opens up jobs that pay a living wage, allowing graduates to marry, have a family, and contribute to their communities. Many graduates become teachers, nurses, and business owners. Others have continued their education at university.

A graduate of Anansi’s first class (who call themselves the Big Six) is a clothing designer and premier seamstress in Mpeasem, with half a dozen apprentices studying under her. Another owns a local grocery store. Another is a doctor.

Founder and Director, Kathryn Roe, recalls that in the early 2020s three graduates who she had not seen in 10-15 years visited the Anansi House together to say, “Thank you for my life.”
