The Efutu Complex is a social enterprise that will generate revenue within Ghana to fund Anansi operations. Once complete, Anansi Educational NGO will be an all-Ghanaian, self-sustaining enterprise.
In 2023, land was purchased in the village of Efutu, 3 miles north of the Anansi House in Mpeasem. Anansi has worked with a Ghanaian architect and the project is overseen by Anansi graduates Daniel Osei and Seidu Ibrahim.
Construction began in late 2024 on the dormitory building, which will begin generating revenue while the remaining enterprise buildings are being finished.
Dormitory
The shortage of dormitories in Ghana has persisted for nearly a decade and these facilities are in high demand by families who can afford to send their children to senior high school. This dormitory is well situated for students attending the nearby Efutu Senior High Technical School.
The dormitory will managed by Seidu Ibrahim (Anansi graduate).
Restaurant
This restaurant will feature Ghanaian cuisine and provide easy-access meals for students at the dormitory, staff and guests of the nearby hospital, and guest house patrons. Currently, the village of Efutu has “chop shop” food vendor stalls but no dine-in restaurant.
The restaurant will be managed by Mohammed Inuwa (Anansi graduate). Mohammed was Anansi’s first paid staff member.
Guest House
These two buildings will include 8 private guest rooms, 2 private guest suites, and the Anansi administrative office.
The guest house will be managed by an Anansi NGO board member.
Private Elementary School
Inspired by the ethics and values emphasized at Ashesi University, Daniel Osei wants these teachings to reach students at a younger age.
Lalinatu Ibrahim (Anansi graduate) will be the school’s headmistress.
