Anansi Travel
This section of the Anansi website focuses on travel in Ghana. Here you can learn about the evolution of Anansi into a nonprofit, about Ghana, and about traveling in this country famous for its people and smiles.
The History of Akwaaba and Anansi Travel
Before founding Anansi Education, the Anansi team ran Anansi Travel in Ghana and, before that, Akwaaba Travel in Cote d'Ivoire. Unfortunately, due to political unrest in Cote d'Ivoire, Akwaaba Travel had to be abandoned and the group of friends that would become Anansi moved to Ghana (which has been the safest country in Africa for some time). It is our hope that someday Cote d'Ivoire will stablize and people will once again be able to experience its rich culture.
Encouraging people to visit West Africa is still important to the Anansi team. Tourism stimulates the local economy and creates jobs. Perhaps more importantly, it raises awareness of Ghana and forges a lasting connection for those who have visited.
As an alternative to the normal tourist "tour" Anansi has been able to offer a unique experience. Indigenous guides gives visitors the choice to be involved in the day to day life of West African people. Anansi guides are African people who have been trained to provide a worthwhile valuable experience in West Africa. Anansi still helps with travel plans, saving you time and money in the process.
A percentage of our guide fees and Bed and Breakfast income in Mpeasem is used to fund students in need for secondary school in Ghana.
